How To Reach Barunai Hill

Barunai Hill is a significant historical and religious landmark located near Khordha. It is famously known for the Maa Barunei Temple, dedicated to the twin goddesses Barunei and Karunei. This hill is not just a place of worship but a site of immense patriotic pride, as it served as the headquarters for the Paika Rebellion of 1817, often called the first war of Indian independence. The hill is part of the Eastern Ghats and is covered in dense foliage and rocky outcrops. A natural spring called Swarna Ganga flows down the hillside, and its waters are considered sacred by devotees. The climb to the temple involves around 200 well-maintained stone steps, offering panoramic views of the Khordha plains below.
