How To Reach Cabo De Rama Beach

Canacona, Goa, India
Cabo De Rama Beach is a pristine, relatively untouched stretch of sand located directly beneath the dramatic cliffs of the historic Cabo De Rama Fort. This beautiful, quiet beach is a small cove, largely isolated from the main tourist trail, offering a high degree of tranquility and a genuinely loca l feel. The beach is accessible by a steep, winding path and set of steps descending from the fort or a rough road from the north. The sand is soft, and the water is generally clear, but swimming requires caution as the sea can be rougher here than the sheltered southern beaches. The most striking feature is the incredible backdrop of the ancient fort towering on the cliff above, creating a dramatic contrast between the ruins of human history and the unspoiled natural beauty. It's an excellent spot for long walks, sunbathing, and watching local fishermen at work. There are only a few very basic shacks (seasonal) offering light refreshments, reinforcing its low-key, rustic charm. Its remoteness makes it a favorite among travelers seeking solitude and a rustic coastal experience away from crowded resorts.

How to Reach

By Air (Approx. 60 km) Fly into Dabolim International Airport (GOI). Hire a pre-paid taxi directly to Cabo De Rama Fort (or the nearby resort), which is the access point for the beach. The journey takes about 1. 5 hours. By Train (Approx. 30 km) The nearest major station is Margao (MAO), though Canacona (CNO, 20 km) is closer. From the station, take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the fort area. By Road (Self-Drive) Renting a scooter or car is the best way to reach, offering flexibility. Drive towards the village of Khola and follow the signs for Cabo De Rama Fort.

There are two access points: the long, steep steps from the fort itself (adventurous) or a rough, unpaved road/path from the northern side of the beach (easier descent).

By Local Transport: Local buses run towards Cabo De Rama village from Canacona or Margao, but they are infrequent, and the final stretch to the fort and beach will require a long walk or a short taxi ride, so they are not the most convenient option.
