How to Reach

By Air: Fly into Leh Airport (IXL). From there, Chamsen Village is approximately 127 KMS away via the Khardung La pass, an arduous journey that requires acclimatization.

By Train: The closest major rail access is Jammu Tawi (JAT), which is not a feasible travel option due to the multi-day journey and high-altitude road requirements from there to Ladakh. Flying to Leh is the recommended initial step for all tourists.

By Road: The most practical way to reach Chamsen is by a hired private taxi or a shared jeep from Leh. You first follow the main road to Diskit, then take a small, less-defined road off the main highway for the final 5 KMS. The entire journey takes roughly 6 hours.

By Local Transport: From the main Diskit town, you can hire a local cab or a motorbike. However, given its distance, finding a shared taxi (like a Sumo) that goes directly to Chamsen may be difficult; you may need to take one toward Khalsar and walk or arrange a pickup from the junction. Pre-arranging transport is highly recommended.
