How to Reach
By Train: Not feasible. The nearest major station is Jammu Tawi (JAT), which is too far for practical travel to Ladakh.
By Road: The journey from Diskit is approximately 95 KMS and takes 3Rs.4 hours one way, following the main road past Hunder toward Turtuk. A private taxi or a shared jeep to Turtuk is the standard way to reach the region. The road is scenic but often narrow and winding, following the Shyok River.
By Local Transport: Shared taxis (Sumo/Bolero) from the Diskit Taxi Stand to Turtuk Village are the most common form of local transport. From Turtuk, the Gompa is a short 5 KMS walk or a quick ride in a local-hire jeep. All road journeys are subject to military checkpoint clearance.
