How To Reach Jhamwar

Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India:
The Fruit Bowl of Chamba:Jhamwar, also known as Jhanwar or sometimes associated with the wider apple belt near Chhatradi or Saho region, is famous for its sprawling, lush green Apple Orchards. These orchards are the agricultural heartland of the district, producing some of the finest varieties of Hi machali Apples. The area is a fantastic example of a temperate climate farming economy flourishing in the high hills. The land use here is entirely focused on horticulture, representing a significant shift from traditional subsistence farming. The sight of thousands of apple trees, especially during the blooming season in Spring or the harvest season in Autumn, is breathtaking. The orchards are typically set on terraced hillsides, following the contour of the land, which is a traditional method of hill agriculture. The high altitude and the rich soil of the Chamba Valley contribute to the apple's unique flavor and crunch. This region is not a single, advertised tourist spot like a museum, but a wide area that offers agro-tourism experiences. Visitors can walk through the rows of trees, learn about apple cultivation, and often sample the fresh produce. The area is also interspersed with small, traditional farmhouses, adding to the rustic charm. The entire landscape provides a stunning contrast to the historical architecture of Chamba town, offering a peaceful, nature-based retreat. The best varieties of apples grown here, such as the famous Royal Delicious, are a testament to the hard work of the local farming community.
