How To Reach Lodh Falls

Netarhat, Jharkhand, India
Lodh Falls, also known as Burha Ghagh, is the highest waterfall in the state of Jharkhand and ranks among the top in India. The fall is formed by the Burha River, which plunges from a staggering height into a deep, unfathomed pool. The sheer power of the water creates a thundering sound that can be heard from several kilometers away in the silent forest. Surrounded by the dense, ancient woods of the Palamau Tiger Reserve, the site offers a glimpse into a truly wild landscape where nature reigns supreme. The waterfall is a tiered structure, but the main drop is so massive that it appears as a singular, vertical wall of white foam. Legend says the depth of the pool at the bottom has never been successfully measured, adding a layer of mystery to the site. The mist generated by the impact of the water creates a permanent dampness in the air, supporting a lush growth of moss and ferns on the surrounding cliffs. Accessing the falls involves a scenic drive through winding hilly roads and a short walk to the viewing platforms. It is a place of immense geographical importance, representing a "nick point" in the river's profile caused by tectonic rejuvenation. For many, a visit to Netarhat is incomplete without witnessing the majesty of Lodh. It represents the raw power of the Chotanagpur plateau's water systems. The site has been developed with safety railings and viewing decks to allow tourists to witness the spectacle safely. During the rainy season, the volume of water increases ten-fold, making it a terrifyingly beautiful sight of nature's unbridled energy.
