How To Reach Mehta Point

Mainpat, Chhattisgarh, India
Mehta Point is one of the premier viewpoints in Mainpat, famous for providing an expansive, bird's-eye view of the entire valley, the winding roads leading up the plateau, and the distant, deep-cut forests. Often positioned on a high ridge, it is geographically significant for offering a view that s pans a different direction compared to other points, showcasing the vast and varied topography of the Surguja district. Due to its high elevation, the point is frequently covered in mist and low clouds, especially during the early morning, giving visitors the stunning sensation of walking among the clouds. This makes it an ideal spot for witnessing the sunrise, although the sunset is also beautiful here. The point is developed with visitor safety in mind, featuring railings and a small clearing. Legend and history often associate this point with a local forest officer or surveyor, Mehta, who is credited with identifying its strategic view. The area is surrounded by dense forest, providing an excellent backdrop for nature walks and quiet reflection. For adventure seekers, the point is also occasionally used as a starting point for paragliding, depending on local regulations and weather conditions, further enhancing its popularity. The sheer scale of the panorama observed from Mehta Point emphasizes why Mainpat is called the Shimla of Chhattisgarh, with its undulating hills and pristine natural beauty laid out beneath the viewer.
