How To Reach Nehru Traffic Park

Rourkela, Odisha, India
Details of Nehru Traffic Park: Nehru Traffic Park, sometimes referred to as Ispat Nehru Park, is a significant recreational and educational landmark established in 1969. The park's foundation stone was laid in 1965 by Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in memory of Jawaharlal Nehru. It serves the du al purpose of providing a tranquil green space and imparting crucial traffic education to children and young adults. The park is spread over a considerable area, featuring lush lawns, well-maintained gardens, and walking paths, making it a popular spot for morning and evening walkers, families, and school excursions. Unlike conventional parks, it incorporates a miniaturized road system complete with traffic signs, signals, and pedestrian crossings. This setup is used to teach children about traffic rules in a practical and engaging way, thereby promoting road safety awareness from a young age. The park is a pleasant respite from the industrial bustle of Rourkela, offering a peaceful environment for relaxation and leisure. It features play equipment for children and designated public areas for family picnics, solidifying its role as a key community space. Its history is tied to the industrialization of the city, being part of the efforts to improve urban infrastructure alongside the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The calm ambiance, combined with its unique educational focus, makes it a distinct and cherished attraction in the city's urban landscape. The area is easily accessible and well-known among locals, making it a central meeting and recreation point for the residents of Rourkela and the surrounding townships.:
