The Historic Sentinel of the Aravallis: The Sohna Hill Fort, also known locally as the Bharatpur Hill Fort, is a semi-ruined historical structure situated atop the Aravalli hills overlooking the town of Sohna. Its construction is generally attributed to the Raja of Bharatpur sometime between the 17t h and 19th centuries. The fort served as a vantage point and a strategic outpost. Despite being partially demolished and rebuilt over centuries, the remnants still evoke a sense of its past grandeur. The fort's location is its greatest asset, offering an extensive panoramic view of the entire Sohna valley, the town below, and the distant cityscape of Gurugram. The ruins consist primarily of stone walls, bastions, and some residential structures, all testament to the military architecture of its time. Today, it is a favored destination for history enthusiasts, trekkers, and nature lovers seeking tranquility and spectacular views. The ascent to the fort is a short, adventurous trek, making the reward of the view at the top even more satisfying. It is managed by the Haryana State Archaeology Department, which is working on its preservation. How to Reach

By Air: Travel to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi (DEL) (approx. 65 KMS). From there, hire a cab or taxi to Sohna Town. The fort is then accessed via the hill road from the town center.

By Train: Disembark at Gurugram Railway Station (GGN) (approx. 30 KMS) or Garhi Harsaru Junction (GHH) (approx. 15 KMS). Take a local bus or cab to Sohna Town Center.

By Road: Reach Sohna via the well-maintained NH 248A (Sohna Road). Buses from Gurugram and Delhi terminate at Sohna Bus Stand. From the Bus Stand, you must hire a local auto-rickshaw or taxi to take you to the base of the hill where the trekking path begins, or where the vehicle road ends.

By Local Transport: The fort is about 2 KMS from the Sohna town center on a steep hill road. Local auto-rickshaws can take you up the motorable part of the road, but the final ascent to the fort ruins is a short, mandatory walk/trek. Ensure the auto-rickshaw driver knows you intend to visit the fort and negotiates the fare accordingly. :
