No Entry Fee for General Public: Once permission is secured, there is generally no direct ticket or entry fee charged for the general visitor to take the daytime guided tour.
ILP is Mandatory: Visitors must also possess the mandatory Inner Line Permit (ILP) for the Hanle restricted area, which carries the nominal government fees (approx. INR 400 one-time + INR 20 per day) paid at the DC Office in Leh.
Fine for Unauthorized Entry: Attempting to enter the observatory without permission or after hours is strictly prohibited and carries very heavy penalties and fines due to its sensitive nature and location.

Remote Operation Building: A smaller building is part of the complex for the local team and houses communication equipment for remote operation of the telescope from the control center in Hosakote, Bengaluru. This structure is modern and functional, built to international scientific standards.
Other Instruments and Dimensions: The observatory also hosts other significant instruments like the MACE (Major Atmospheric Cerenkov Experiment) telescope and the HAGAR (High Altitude Gamma Ray) array. The HCT has a primary mirror diameter of 2. 01 meters. The entire complex is strategically laid out on the flattened peak of Mt. Saraswati, covering an area of about half a square kilometer, to maximize the scientific utility of the site.
Site Selection: The architectural layout follows precise astronomical requirements, with its position on the peak of Mt. Saraswati selected after years of meticulous site characterization for its optimal seeing conditions (less than 1 arcsecond median seeing) and low wind speed.
