Local Structures::Local human architecture is simple, utilizing indigenous materials like mud, stone, and wood, built low to the ground to withstand strong winds and extreme temperatures. Traditional nomadic tents (Rebos) are made of yak hair, highly insulated, and easily portable, reflecting a perfectly adapted, temporary dwelling design. The only major permanent structures are the Hanle Monastery and the IAO, which uses modern, purpose-built domes and facilities designed to operate remotely in harsh conditions. How To Reach:
By Air::The nearest major operational airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) in Leh (approx. 250-275 KMS away), which is well-connected to major Indian cities. From Leh, the remaining journey must be completed by road.
