Jama Masjid Rajmahal

Sahibganj, Jharkhand, India
The Jama Masjid (or Jami Masjid) of Rajmahal is a monumental mosque dating back to the late 16th century. Built by Raja Man Singh, the trusted general of Mughal Emperor Akbar, it stands as a testament to the time when Rajmahal was the capital of the Bengal province. Located in the area known as Hada f, the mosque is situated on elevated ground, providing a commanding view of the surroundings. Although parts of the structure are in ruins, the remaining architecture still radiates grandeur and historical significance. The mosque was designed to accommodate thousands of worshippers, reflecting the prosperity of the Mughal era in this region. The massive courtyard and high walls speak of a time when this was a center of political and religious power. Today, it is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and attracts history enthusiasts from across the country. Walking through its arched gateways feels like stepping back into the 1590s, imagining the royal processions that once passed through these grounds.
