Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary

Jangaon, Telangana, India
Wilderness Paradise: Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary, declared a Tiger Reserve in 2012, is one of the oldest and most important protected areas in Telangana. Spanning 893 square kilometers, it is a dense dry deciduous forest dominated by world-class teak and bamboo. Historically, it served as a hunting gro und for the Nizams of Hyderabad before being established as a sanctuary in 1965. The sanctuary is a biodiversity hotspot, home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Gaur (Indian Bison), Sloth Bear, and over 300 species of birds. The Kadam River flows through the forest, acting as a lifeline for the animals and creating fertile, green patches throughout the year. It offers a perfect escape for nature lovers who want to experience the thrill of a jeep safari through narrow jungle paths where one might spot a panther or a herd of Cheetal (spotted deer) grazing in the tall grass.
