The area is a public natural attraction, ensuring everyone can enjoy the scenic beauty without a ticket. This policy contributes significantly to its popularity and accessibility. The cost is limited to personal expenses for activities or parking.
Parking Fees and Vehicle Entry: A nominal parking fee is charged for private vehicles or taxis entering the main tourist area. This fee typically ranges from Rs.50 to Rs.150 per vehicle, depending on the size and type of vehicle. This charge is for maintaining the cleanliness and infrastructure of the parking areas and is collected by local authorities or forest department representatives.
Activity Fees (Optional): The main expenditure comes from the optional adventure sports and activities. For instance, Zorbing usually costs between Rs.300 and Rs.500 per person for a single run. Horse Riding typically costs between Rs.200 and Rs.400 for a short ride around the meadow. Paragliding (if operational) is the most expensive activity, costing from Rs.2,000 to Rs.3,500 per person for a tandem flight. There is a small entry fee (approx. Rs.10) for the Khajji Nag Temple. The overall experience can be entirely free if the visitor only chooses to walk and relax.Timing:

However, for tourist safety and convenience, the main activities, local shops, and official parking facilities operate generally from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, especially during the main tourist season (April to June and September to November).
Ideal Visit Time: The Ideal Visit Time is the early morning, specifically from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, for an experience of solitude, clean air, and the best natural light for photography, or the late afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, for the tranquil sunset hues. Visiting mid-day (11 AM to 3 PM) is best for adventure activities like zorbing, as the operators are fully set up.
Off-Season and Winter Timings: During the peak winter months (December to February), particularly after heavy snowfall, accessibility and local services may be reduced, and operators may close earlier. The meadow is still stunningly beautiful, but daylight hours are limited, and the safest visiting window is 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The best time to avoid crowds is any weekday morning outside of May and June.Special Events:

This fair transforms the peaceful meadow into a vibrant center of cultural activity. The fair features traditional Himachali folk dances (Nati) and music, often performed by local villagers in their colorful attire. Local artisans set up stalls displaying indigenous handicrafts, handwoven shawls, and wood carvings, providing a deep dive into the regional arts.
Community and Religious Gatherings: The fair is also a major religious gathering, with devotees visiting the Khajji Nag Temple on a large scale. It's a time for community bonding, traditional feasts, and the performance of age-old rituals. The atmosphere is festive and joyous, offering tourists a rare opportunity to witness the authentic local culture and hospitality.
Seasonal Sports and Adventure Events: Depending on the tourism department's calendar, light adventure sports competitions, such as local horse-riding events or small zorbing competitions, are occasionally organized on the meadow during the peak summer months (May to June). These events draw crowds and add a competitive, energetic dimension to the otherwise tranquil spot. The Diwali and Dussera festivals also see increased local gatherings and small cultural programs near the temple.Best Photo Spots:

From this vantage point, you can capture the entire expanse of the green meadow, the shimmering Khajjiar Lake with its floating island, and the surrounding ring of dark green deodar trees, all framed by the distant, snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges. This spot provides the perfect blend of natural elements in a single frame, especially during the Golden Hour (sunrise or sunset).
The Swiss Sign Post: The iconic yellow Swiss signpost, which officially designates Khajjiar as Mini Switzerland and gives the distance to Bern, Switzerland, is a mandatory and unique photo opportunity. It’s perfect for close-up travel portraits and selfies that document the global significance of the place.
The Deodar Forest Edge: The pathway along the dense deodar and pine forest provides a beautiful contrast between the dark, towering trees and the bright, open grassland. Shooting from this edge towards the center of the meadow creates a sense of depth and scale, highlighting the sheer size of the forest and the open sky. During the winter, the edge of the forest blanketed in snow provides a pristine, white backdrop.
Near the Lake Shore: Taking photos right at the edge of the Khajjiar Lake, focusing on the reflection of the surrounding forest and mountains on the water's surface (especially on a calm day), can yield stunning, mirror-like images. This spot is excellent for capturing the quiet tranquility of the scene.Photo Gallery
Things To Do
-
Engaging in Zorbing and Paragliding Adventures: The expansive, gentle slope of the meadow is perfect for adventure sports. Zorbing involves rolling downhill inside a large, transparent inflatable ball, offering a dizzying, fun experience lasting about 2-5 minutes per run. Paragliding offers a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the entire valley, the lake, and the surrounding forests, typically a tandem flight with an experienced pilot, lasting 10-20 minutes.
Horse Riding and Nature Trails: Horse riding is a popular activity, with local ponies available for hire near the lake. A short ride around the perimeter of the meadow takes about 30 minutes, offering a relaxed way to explore the area. Visitors can also embark on tranquil nature walks or easy hikes along the periphery trails that lead into the deodar forest, such as the in...

Blazer. This unique global recognition is its biggest draw and magnet for international and domestic tourists. The natural, serene beauty is often compared to the iconic Swiss Alpine landscape, especially the open, lush meadows backed by towering, snow-capped mountains (Dhauladhar range).
A Rare Combination of Ecosystems: The plateau uniquely features a lake, a pasture, and a forest ecosystem converging in one small area. This topographical and ecological diversity is rare in a Himalayan setting, offering varied sightseeing and activity options. The presence of the small, weed-covered Khajjiar Lake at the center of the meadow, surrounded by a thick ring of deodar trees, creates a visually stunning and photogenic focal point.
Adventure and Leisure Hub: Beyond its natural beauty, the meadow is the main hub for numerous recreational and adventure activities like paragliding, zorbing, and horse riding, appealing to all types of travelers, from adrenaline junkies to those seeking gentle nature walks. It also hosts the historic Khajji Nag Temple and the Nine-Hole Golf Course, cementing its status as the most central and versatile attraction in the region. The overall atmosphere of tranquility mixed with adventure makes it a must-visit destination in Himachal Pradesh. -

The Lake Feature: At the heart lies Khajjiar Lake, a small, perennial lake. Due to silt deposit and vegetative growth, it is increasingly shallow, featuring a 'floating island'—a mat of perennial weeds and grass that moves slightly with the wind. The circumference of the immediate viewing area around the lake is roughly 250 meters.
Surrounding Forest Dimension: The meadow is encased by thick Deodar (Cedrus deodara) and Pine forest. The average height of the deodar trees surrounding the area is approximately 30-40 meters, creating a towering, majestic boundary. The entire valley is situated at an altitude of approximately 6,500 feet (1,920 meters) above sea level, contributing to its cool climate. The overall feel is one of a natural amphitheater, with the mountains forming the upper tiers.
Golf Course Integration: The Nine-Hole Golf Course is naturally integrated into the northern part of the meadow, utilizing the natural slopes and undulations of the terrain rather than relying on heavy landscaping, keeping its architecture highly symbiotic with the natural meadow. The overall design emphasizes minimal structural intervention, allowing the surrounding mountains and forests to be the primary architectural elements. -
