Markonahalli Dam
Markonahalli Dam is built across the Shimsha River and is a unique engineering feat. Commissioned by the Maharaja of Mysore and designed by Sir M. Visvesvaraya, it was the first in the world to use automatic siphon spillways. This technology allows the dam to release water automatically when it rea ches maximum capacity without manual gate operation.
