Huthridurga Fort
Huthridurga Fort is a historical hill fortress built by Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru, in the 16th century. It is one of the "Nava Durgas" (nine forts) located around the capital city. The fort is situated atop a rocky hill at an altitude of about 3,700 feet. It features a unique seven-tiere d fortification system, though many layers are now in ruins. The trek to the top is moderately easy and takes about an hour, passing through several ancient stone gateways. At the summit, there is a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva known as the Shankareshwara Temple. Historically, the fort served as a military bastion for Tipu Sultan during his wars with the British. The panoramic view of the surrounding plains and other hills like Savandurga is spectacular from the top.
