Nandikonda
Nandikonda, also known as Vijayapuri, is a historically significant village on the banks of the Krishna River. It served as the capital of the Ikshvaku Dynasty in the 3rd century AD. The site gained global attention during the construction of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam when massive archaeological exca vations unearthed Buddhist monasteries, pillared halls, and a stadium. Today, it is a serene village that balances its ancient Buddhist identity with the modern marvel of the dam. The name Vijayapuri translates to 'City of Victory,' reflecting its past glory.
