Panchama Temple

Gopalpur, Odisha, India
Panchama Temple is home to the famous Siddha Vinayaka, a manifestation of Lord Ganesh. The uniqueness of this temple lies in the fact that the idol of Lord Ganesh is not a man-made sculpture but is naturally ensconced within the hollow of a massive ancient Pipal tree. It is one of the most prominen t centers of Ganapataya worship in Odisha. Legend has it that the idol was discovered by the Gajapati King Purushottama Deva while he was on his way to Kanchi. The king established five families here to maintain the worship, which gave the village its name, Panchama. The temple is considered highly auspicious, and it is believed that any new venture started after seeking blessings here will be successful. The atmosphere is filled with the fragrance of incense and the sound of bells, creating a powerful spiritual vibration for all visitors.
