Historical Narrative and Significance: Gurdwara Kandh Sahib is one of the most revered and historically significant shrines in Sikhism, commemorating the spot where Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru, stayed just before his marriage to Mata Sulakhni Ji in 1487 AD. According to local tradition, t he young Guru was resting by a weak, unbaked mud wall (Kandh) when a local woman advised him to move, fearing it would collapse. The Guru reportedly smiled and told her that the wall would stand for centuries to witness his marriage. Miraculously, a section of that wall is still preserved within the modern Gurdwara complex, making it a powerful physical symbol of the Guru's words. The place is a pivotal site in the Guru's life story.Religious Importance: The Gurdwara's primary importance is its direct association with a crucial personal event in the Guru's life—his marriage. This makes it a significant pilgrimage spot, particularly for newly married couples who seek blessings here, and a central location for the annual celebration of the Guru's wedding anniversary, Babe Nanak Da Viah.
