Gurdwara Sri Kandh Sahib
Gurdwara Sri Kandh Sahib is one of the most significant Sikh shrines in the world, marking the marriage of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Mata Sulakhni Ji in 1487. The name "Kandh" means "Wall" in Punjabi. According to history, while the marriage party was waiting, an old woman warned the Guru that the mud w all he was sitting near was about to collapse. The Guru smiled and remarked that this wall would stand for centuries as a witness to his marriage. Remarkably, a portion of that original mud wall is still preserved today inside the Gurdwara, protected by a glass casing. This site is the heart of Batala, drawing millions of visitors who come to seek blessings for a happy married life. The Gurdwara is not just a building but a living testimony to the words of the first Sikh Guru, serving as a spiritual anchor for the entire region.
