Pongo Village
Pongo Village is one of the most culturally significant and picturesque villages in the Longleng district. Perched on a high ridge, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and the distant hills of the Mon district. The village is famous for its well-preserved traditional lifestyle, wher e most houses still feature the classic Naga thatched roofs and bamboo walls. The inhabitants of Pongo are known for their hospitality and their deep-rooted adherence to ancestral customs. A walk through the narrow, stone-paved paths of the village reveals "Morungs" that are still used as community meeting points. The village is also a center for traditional music, and it is not uncommon to hear the rhythmic beating of the log drum during community announcements. Pongo is particularly famous for its unique folk dances, which are performed during the Monyiu festival.
