Pulga Village

Kasol, Himachal Pradesh, India
Pulga Village is a hidden treasure tucked away in a corner of the Parvati Valley, known for its otherworldly charm and dense pine forests. To reach Pulga, one has to trek a short distance from the Barshaini dam, which immediately separates the visitor from the motorized world. The village is famous for its "Fairy Forest," a massive area of ancient, towering pine trees where the ground is covered in a thick carpet of needles and moss. Walking through this forest feels like stepping into a storybook, as the sunlight filters through the canopy in magical ways. Pulga is much smaller and quieter than Tosh or Kasol, making it a favorite for long-term travelers and artists. The houses here are almost entirely made of wood, painted in bright colors that contrast with the deep green of the surrounding hills. There are several cozy cafes that serve amazing Israeli and local Himachali cuisine, often accompanied by the sound of local children playing in the streets. The village offers an incredible view of the Tosh Nallah and the snow peaks that stand guard over the valley. Life in Pulga is slow and rhythmic, centered around the tea shops and the communal village square. It is a place where you can easily lose track of time. Many people come here for a day and end up staying for weeks because of the sheer tranquility. The village also has a small waterfall nearby that is perfect for a morning hike. Whether you want to explore the mysterious forests or just sit in a wooden balcony with a cup of tea, Pulga offers a soul-stirring experience that is hard to find anywhere else.
