Anand Bhavan is a historic house museum that belonged to the Nehru family, one of the most influential families in India's independence movement. It was built in the 1930s by Motilal Nehru to serve as the family's residence after their original mansion, Swaraj Bhavan, was donated to the Indian Nati onal Congress. Anand Bhavan was the birthplace of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and served as a center for political activities during the freedom struggle. The museum offers a glimpse into the lives of the Nehru family, showcasing their personal belongings, photographs, and historical documents. The well-preserved rooms provide insights into their lifestyle and the significant events that unfolded within these walls. Attached to Anand Bhavan is the Jawahar Planetarium, which offers educational shows on astronomy and space science. The original family mansion, Swaraj Bhavan, is also part of the complex and houses the Jawahar Bal Bhawan, an institution aimed at nurturing the creativity and capabilities of children.
