Tourism Tips
Packing: Carry light woolens for the day and heavy jackets for the night. Since Kargil is a conservative town, dress modestly while visiting local mosques and residential areas.
Food: Try the local Pabba and Skrew which are traditional flour-based dishes. Also, carry some dry fruits and energy bars as travel between towns can take longer than expected due to terrain.
Permits: You do not need a special permit to stay in Kargil town, but you need them for Aryan Villages. Keep multiple photocopies of your Aadhar card or Passport handy at all military checkpoints.
