Lodwick Point is a prominent and historically significant viewpoint in Mahabaleshwar, offering some of the most expansive and dramatic views of the surrounding valleys. The point is named after General Lodwick, the first British officer to climb the peak from which the point gets its name, in 1824. A towering 25-feet high column or monument has been erected at the point to commemorate his achievement. From Lodwick Point, visitors are treated to a magnificent panorama that includes the majestic Pratapgad Fort (visible in the distance on a clear day), the winding Krishna Valley, and the deep gorges of the Sahyadri mountains. The view of the Elephant's Head Point (also visible from Kates Point) is particularly striking from here, appearing as a natural sculpture against the backdrop of the valley.
