Travel Tips Of Vizag Colony Beach

Nalgonda, Telangana, India
Place Overview and History : Vizag Colony Beach is a unique tourist destination located in the Azmapur region of Nalgonda. This place earned its name roughly 60 years ago when 24 families from Visakhapatnam migrated here to work on the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam project. They established a colony that even tually became known as Vizag Colony. Unlike a traditional sea beach, this is a vast expanse of the Nagarjuna Sagar backwaters, which creates a stunning shoreline. The area is surrounded by the lush green Nallamala hills, providing a breathtaking backdrop that mimics a coastal landscape. Over the years, it has transformed from a humble settlement into a popular picnic spot for those seeking peace away from city life. The water here is calm and crystal clear, reflecting the blue sky and the surrounding hills. Visitors can enjoy a "mini-island" experience as the water wraps around the land in various inlets. It is particularly famous for its fresh fish, which is caught daily by the local fishing community. This destination offers a rare combination of history, culture, and natural beauty. It serves as a vital livelihood source for the descendants of the original settlers who continue their fishing traditions. The atmosphere is quiet, making it an ideal spot for soul-searching or family gatherings. The local community is welcoming and often shares stories of their migration from the coast to this inland "beach." The sunrise and sunset views here are considered some of the best in the district. It remains a relatively unexplored gem, maintaining its pristine condition.
