Weather And Best Time To Visit In Domkhar
Weather and Best Time to Visit
Summer Months: June to September is the primary season for visiting Domkhar. This is when the weather is warm enough to spend time outdoors exploring the rocks. The roads are clear of snow, and the village is at its greenest and most beautiful. It is the only time when the riverside is truly accessible for picnics and long walks.
Harvest Time: Late August and September are particularly special due to the fruit harvest. You can see the entire village engaged in picking and drying apricots and apples. The smell of fresh fruit is everywhere, and you can buy the best produce during this time. It adds a wonderful sensory layer to your visit to the rock art sanctuary.
Different Parts of the Day: Noon is the best time to see the petroglyphs clearly as the sun is high and shadows are minimal. Early morning is the best for a quiet walk through the village and by the river. Late afternoon provides the best light for landscape photography of the Indus valley. Avoid visiting after sunset as there is no lighting at the sanctuary and it can be difficult to find your way.
