Traditional Mountain Huts and Hydro-Engineering: The architecture in Barshaini is a blend of traditional Himachali Kath-Kuni style and modern functional structures. The old houses feature dimensions of roughly 20 by 30 feet with two levels. The ground floor is typically used for livestock, while the upper floor, made of deodar wood and stone layers, serves as the living area. The roofs are slanted and covered with local slate tiles to shed heavy snow during January. Modern guesthouses are now built with concrete but retain wooden balconies. The Barshaini Dam is a significant engineering feat in the area. -
