Edupayala Vana Durga Bhavani Temple

Medak, Telangana, India
The Edupayala Vana Durga Bhavani Temple is one of the most powerful and revered shrines in Telangana, dedicated to Goddess Kanakadurga. The name "Edupayalu" translates to "seven streams" in Telugu (Edu meaning seven and Payalu meaning streams). According to legend, the great King Parikshit performe d a "Sarpa Yagya" to rid himself of a curse. It is believed that the Manjeera River splits into seven distinct streams here to wash the feet of the Goddess. The temple is uniquely situated in a cave-like natural stone formation within the riverbed. During the monsoon, the water levels rise so high that they touch the base of the deity, a sight considered highly auspicious by devotees. The temple complex is surrounded by dense forests and rugged hills, providing a serene backdrop for spiritual seekers. Every year, millions of pilgrims from Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra visit this site, especially during the massive Jatara festival. The energy of the place is a blend of natural beauty and intense Vedic chanting, making it a must-visit spiritual hub.
