FAQs On Kali Mandir

Bokaro, Jharkhand, India
History and Significance: The Sri Sri Kalika Maharani Temple is a relatively new but highly revered place of worship dedicated to Goddess Kali, a fierce yet benevolent form of Parvati. The foundation work began in July 2010, and it was officially opened to the public on July 14, 2012. The temple was constructed by Aashiyaan Estate Developers and is a centerpiece of the Kalika Vihar mini-township, which is named after the deity. It is considered one of the most significant modern temples in the Bokaro region and has rapidly gained prominence, attracting devotees from all over Jharkhand and West Bengal. The temple complex is spread over half an acre, offering a spacious and tranquil environment for worshippers. The Idol and Sanctum: The main temple houses a magnificent idol of Ma Kali. A unique aspect highlighted in the local reverence is that the deity is presented in a beautiful representation of her Sita avatar, which adds a layer of spiritual depth, linking the fierce mother goddess with the epitome of purity and devotion. A smaller, dedicated shrine to Lord Hanuman is strategically located at the main entrance, ensuring a complete spiritual circuit for visitors. The very location where the temple stands is considered auspicious; during the initial excavation for the foundation, laborers discovered an Indian Cobra, which is traditionally seen as a very good omen, symbolizing Lord Shiva, the consort of Goddess Kali, thus lending a mythical and sacred aura to the temple's modern origins. The temple management conducts a variety of religious activities throughout the year, making it a vibrant center for Hindu traditions and rituals in Bokaro Steel City. The temple's reputation is built on the belief that Goddess Kali grants the genuine wishes of those who pray here with a sincere heart and devotion, leading to a continuous influx of pilgrims seeking blessings.
