History Of Harila Jori

Deoghar, Bihar, India
Harila Jori, a small village located about 5 kilometers north of Deoghar, holds immense mythological and spiritual significance. The name "Harila Jori" is a corruption of "Hari Har Jori," which literally means the "union of Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Har (Lord Shiva)." The place is steeped in the same l egend as the Baba Baidyanath Dham, where the demon king Ravana was tricked into placing the Shiva lingam on the ground. It is believed that this is the exact spot where Lord Vishnu, disguised as a shepherd boy, met Ravana and took the lingam from him. The site is home to a small Shiva temple with an ancient lingam that is believed to have sprouted from beneath a Myrobalan (Haritaki) tree, which is why it is also known as "Haritkinath" or "Haritkinath Mahadev." The lingam is considered to be a Swayambhu Lingam, meaning it is self-manifested. The temple is a beautiful and serene place for quiet reflection and prayer. The temple's sanctum sanctorum houses the Shiva lingam, which is a major attraction for pilgrims. The temple is a major center for religious activities, and it attracts a large number of pilgrims throughout the year. Another fascinating feature of the site is the presence of a water source, which is believed to be the spot where Ravana urinated before handing over the lingam to the shepherd boy. This water source is known as "Ravana Jori" or "Ravana Kund." The site also has a footprint of Lord Vishnu, which is believed to have been left by him when he was in the form of the shepherd boy. The site's close connection to the legends of the Baidyanath Dham makes it a must-visit for pilgrims. The site is a serene and peaceful place for quiet reflection and prayer. The serene environment and the beautiful surroundings make it a perfect place for a relaxing day out. The site is a great place to experience the local culture and to get a taste of the local traditions.
