Valmiki Tiger Reserve
Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) is the only tiger reserve in Bihar, located in the foothills of the Himalayan Terai region. It forms a contiguous forest belt with Chitwan National Park in Nepal. The landscape is a beautiful mix of dense forests, swamps, and the majestic Gandak River. VTR is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, Indian rhinoceros, black bear, leopard, and over 250 species of birds. Historically, this forest is believed to be the site of Sage Valmiki’s Ashram, where Goddess Sita lived during her exile and gave birth to Luv and Kush. The reserve offers a unique combination of wildlife adventure and mythological heritage. Travelers can enjoy jungle safaris, river rafting, and trekking to the Someshwar Peak. It is a paradise for nature lovers and photographers who want to experience the raw beauty of the Gangetic plains and the Himalayan foothills without the crowds of more famous national parks. :
