Hazaribagh National Park, also known as Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary, is a sprawling haven for wildlife and nature lovers, covering an area of approximately 186 square kilometers. Established in 1954, it is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India. The park's landscape is a mix of steep hill s, lush meadows, and dense tropical forests, making it an ideal habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna. The park's ecosystem is supported by a network of internal roads, totaling around 111 kilometers, designed to provide visitors with a comprehensive view of the sanctuary while minimizing disturbance to the animals. These well-maintained roads allow for easy access to different zones, offering opportunities for wildlife spotting. While the tiger population has dwindled over the years, the park is still home to a variety of other animals, including spotted deer, sambar, nilgai, wild boars, and a small population of leopards. Birdwatching is a popular activity here, with the sanctuary attracting a wide array of migratory and resident birds. The sanctuary's diverse terrain, from grasslands to dense forests, provides a magnificent backdrop for a jungle safari.
