Janki Kund is an exquisite and highly revered stretch of the holy Mandakini River in Chitrakoot. It is named after Goddess Sita (also known as Janki), as it is traditionally believed to have been her favourite spot for bathing and contemplation during her time of exile with Lord Rama and Lakshmana. The site is characterized by the crystal-clear, calm, blue-green water of the Mandakini River and a series of well-maintained ghats (steps) leading down to the water, making it a peaceful and picturesque spot for a sacred dip. The environment is one of absolute serenity and simplicity, enhanced by the surrounding lush, protected forest, known as the Pramod Van, which adds to the tranquil, spiritual ambiance. Nearby the Kund, there are two significant temples: the Shree Raghuvir Temple and the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, which are essential parts of the visit.
