Historical Significance and Style: Christ Church in Kasauli is one of the most iconic landmarks of the hill station and holds the distinction of being the oldest church in Himachal Pradesh. Its foundation stone was laid in 1844 by Dr. Daniel Wilson, the Bishop of Calcutta, and it was inaugurated for worship in 1853. Built during the peak of the British Raj, it served as the Anglican Church for the resident British officers and their families stationed in the Kasauli cantonment. The church is a stunning example of Neo-Gothic architecture, a style that was heavily favored by the Victorians. Its location is perfectly picturesque, set amidst dense stands of chestnut and fir trees, giving it a timeless, serene, and almost secluded feel despite being so close to the main market. The church is a key repository of colonial history, evident in its structure, its famous stained glass windows imported from Spain and Italy, and its antique clock.
