How To Reach Ananthagiri Hills
Vikarabad, Telangana, India:
A Lush Green Deccan Plateau Haven: Ananthagiri Hills is a picturesque hill station and one of the densest forest regions in the state of Telangana, often called the Ooty of the poor man. It is a part of the Eastern Ghats and is a key ecological zone, serving as the source of the Musi River (also kno wn as the Muchukunda River). The entire region is characterized by rolling hills, dense foliage, red soil, and a consistently pleasant, cooler climate than the nearby city of Hyderabad. The forest is home to various medicinal plants and a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it an excellent destination for nature lovers, trekkers, and eco-tourism enthusiasts. The hills are a hub for adventure activities like zip-lining, zorbing, and camping, transforming it into a complete weekend getaway. Historically, the area was also a hunting ground for the Nizams and is one of the earliest human habitat areas, evidenced by ancient caves and medieval fort ruins scattered throughout the forest. The area's tranquil environment and scenic beauty make it a crucial natural escape near Hyderabad and a defining feature of Vikarabad.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) in Hyderabad, approximately 95 KMS away. A hired taxi or cab from the airport via the NH 65 highway is the best option, taking about 2. 5 hours.

By Train: The closest railway station is Vikarabad Junction (VKB), only about 10 KMS away. From Vikarabad, one can hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi to the various points within the hills, such as the Haritha Resort area, taking about 20-30 minutes.

By Road: The best way to reach is

By Road from Hyderabad (90 KMS) via Moinabad and Chevella, which is a well-maintained scenic route. State-run TSRTC buses from the MGBS or JBS in Hyderabad run frequently to Vikarabad town, where local transport can be used for the final few kilometers.

By Local Transport: Local shared taxis, private cabs, and auto-rickshaws operate between Vikarabad town and the popular spots in the hills, but negotiating a round-trip fare for the entire day is highly recommended for convenience.
