How To Reach Charpa Falls

Athirappilly, Kerala, India
Charpa Falls is a charming, yet powerful, seasonal waterfall located right beside the main Athirappilly-Vazhachal road. It is often considered the smaller sibling of the two larger waterfalls but possesses a distinct, raw beauty. Unlike the others, Charpa Falls directly plunges from a low height, ap proximately 40 feet (12 meters), onto a cluster of rocks very close to the asphalt road. The falls are at their most spectacular during the monsoon season (June to September) when the Chalakudy River is in full spate. During this time, the water flow is so abundant and forceful that the cascade nearly spills onto the road, creating a thrilling and refreshing spectacle for passing motorists. This roadside location means that visitors can easily pull over and enjoy the view without any extensive trekking or long walks. In the dry season, particularly from February to May, the waterfall significantly reduces to a trickle or may even dry up completely, making it a truly seasonal phenomenon. The sight of the water rushing down and joining the main river course is a beautiful reminder of the raw power of nature. It serves as an excellent spot for a quick photo stop while traveling between Athirappilly and Vazhachal. The dense forest cover is visible just behind the falls, emphasizing the area's wild, untouched nature.
