How To Reach Dharkundi

Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, India
Dharkundi is a tranquil and sacred location nestled amidst dense forests, rocky caves, and perennial streams of the Vindhya Range. It is a divine spot that perfectly blends nature and spirituality. The area is historically significant, believed to be the site where the famous dialogue between Yudhis hthira and Daksha from the epic Mahabharata took place near a holy pond known as 'Aghamarshan Kund'. This ancient pond is situated deep below the ground level. Dharkundi is also home to the Paramhansa Ashram of Maharaj Sachchidanand Ji, making it an important center for meditation and spiritual practice, attracting hermits and spiritual seekers. The continuous flow of water from the mountains, even in dry seasons, is a geographical marvel and a source of the area's name ('Dhara' meaning stream, 'Kund' meaning pond). The caves in the area are renowned as ancient meditation sites (Sadhana Sthal) and are said to contain rare rock paintings (Shail Chitra). Furthermore, the dense jungle around Dharkundi is known for its valuable medicinal herbs and unique geological fossils, adding an element of natural exploration to the spiritual pilgrimage. The seclusion of the spot offers an unparalleled sense of peace and quietude, far removed from the city's hustle.
