How To Reach Khajjiar Trek

By Air (Flights): The nearest airport is Kangra Airport (Gaggal Airport - KGG), around 120 KMs away. Travelers land here and take a pre-booked taxi or bus to Khajjiar, which is the starting point of the various trekking routes. The journey from the airport is long (4-5 hours), so factor in enough time to reach Khajjiar with daylight remaining.

By Train (Rail Connectivity): The nearest railhead is Pathankot Cantonment (PTKC) or Pathankot Junction (PTK), approximately 95-100 KMs away. From Pathankot, you can hire a private taxi directly to Khajjiar in about 3-4 hours. Alternatively, take a state bus to Dalhousie and then a local bus/taxi to Khajjiar. The train journey offers a relaxing alternative to the long road trip from northern cities.

By Road (Bus/Taxi/Driving): The trek is accessed from Khajjiar, which is connected by road to major towns. It is only 24 KMs from Dalhousie and 22 KMs from Chamba. HRTC buses run to Khajjiar, but often the best option is a taxi or private vehicle to reach the starting points. For the Kalatop trek, many people take a taxi to the Lakkarmandi checkpoint and then start the final walk.

By Local Transport: Within Khajjiar, the main trekking start points (near the meadow) are accessible by walking from most local accommodations. For longer treks like the one to Kalatop, local taxis or shared cabs are available to drop you at the trailhead or the Lakkarmandi entry gate.
