How To Reach Khati Village

Khati Village is a picturesque and remote settlement situated at an altitude of approximately 2,210 meters. It holds the unique distinction of being the last inhabited village on the trekking route to the Pindari and Kafni glaciers. Surrounded by dense forests of oak and rhododendron, Khati offers a serene and untouched environment that feels like a step back in time. The villagers are believed to be the descendants of the people who provided shelter to the Pandavas during their exile, adding a layer of mythological significance to the place. There is no road connectivity directly to the village; one must trek from Kharkiya to reach here. This isolation has preserved its pristine beauty and cultural purity. Visitors can experience the true "Pahadi" hospitality, staying in local homestays and eating food cooked over wood fires. The village provides stunning views of peaks like Nandakot and Pwalidwar. How to Reach

By Air: Nearest airport is Pantnagar (250 KMS). From there, travel to Bageshwar and then to Kapkot/Kharkiya.

By Train: Kathgodam is the nearest station (220 KMS). From here, take a taxi to Bageshwar, then a shared jeep to Kharkiya.

By Road: One can drive up to Kharkiya, which is the last motorable point. From Kharkiya, it is a 5 KM trek to reach Khati Village.

By Local Transport: Shared jeeps are available from Bageshwar or Kapkot to Kharkiya. After that, the only way to reach Khati is on foot or by hiring a pony for luggage.
