By Air:Nearest airport is Dimapur Airport (DMU) (70 KMS); the journey from the airport to Kohima and then to Kigwema is the only way by air and road, taking approximately 4-5 hours in total; By Train:Nearest railhead is Dimapur Railway Station (DMU) (70 KMS); from the station, shared or reserved taxis are available to Kohima and then a final local transfer to Kigwema Village; By Road:Accessible from Kohima (15 KMS) via the main highway; the village is spread along the road, and the huts are easily visible from the main thoroughfare or by walking up the village lanes; By Local Transport:Shared Sumo taxis from Kohima are the most common and cheap mode of transport, and they can drop you off at the main junction of the village, allowing you to explore the network of traditional huts on foot.
