How To Reach Palakkad Hemambika Temple

Sub Place Details: The Hemambika Temple, also known as the Emoor Bhagavathy Temple, is a unique pilgrimage site located in Kallekulangara. It is one of the four Ambikalayas established by Sage Parashurama to protect the land of Kerala. The presiding deity is Goddess Hemambika, a form of Durga, but w hat makes this temple extraordinary is the idol itself: it consists only of two upraised palms of the Goddess. Legend has it that the Goddess appeared before a devotee and was about to emerge from a lake, but when the devotee tried to grab her out of excitement, she turned to stone, leaving only her hands visible. The temple is surrounded by a large temple tank and lush trees, creating a serene and spiritual environment. Devotees believe that praying to the upraised hands helps in removing obstacles and grants protection. The temple is managed by the Malabar Devaswom Board and remains a focal point for the religious life of people in Palakkad.
