Chembra Peak

Palakkad, Kerala, India
General Details: Chembra Peak is the highest peak in the Wayanad district and a bucket-list destination for trekkers in South India. Standing at 2,100 meters above sea level, it offers a challenging yet rewarding climb through tea plantations and grasslands. While it is located in Wayanad, it is a v ery popular extension for tourists visiting Palakkad due to the direct road connectivity. The trek's crown jewel is the Hridaya Saras, a natural heart-shaped lake that is believed to never dry up. From the top, you get a 360-degree view of the entire Wayanad district and even parts of Kozhikode and Nilgiri districts on clear days. The air at the summit is chillingly cold even in summer, providing a great escape from the heat. The Forest Department strictly regulates the number of trekkers per day to preserve the delicate ecology. It is home to various mountain birds and unique flora. The path begins at the foot of the hill where emerald-green tea estates provide a scenic start. It is a place that combines adventure, romance, and spiritual peace.
