How To Reach Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary

Bishalgarh, Tripura, India:
An Ecological Treasure of Tripura: Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is an expansive protected area covering approximately 18.53 square kilometers (7.15 sq mi), making it one of the most significant conservation areas in Tripura. Established to protect the region's rich flora and fauna, the sanctuary is characterized by a moist deciduous forest type. It is a vital habitat for several primate species, including the famous and unique Spectacled Langur (Phayre's Langur), Rhesus Macaque, Pig-tailed Macaque, and Capped Langur. The sanctuary is also home to various animals like the Clouded Leopard, Leopard, Barking Deer, Wild Pig, and a rich variety of reptiles and civets. Beyond its faunal wealth, the sanctuary features a beautiful Botanical Garden and several artificial lakes, such as Amrit Sagar, where boating facilities are available. The presence of rubber and coffee plantations within the complex adds another unique dimension to its landscape. It serves both as a wildlife habitat and a prominent academic and research center for biodiversity studies. The relatively cool and temperate weather throughout the year, except for a few summer months, makes it a pleasant destination for nature lovers. The sanctuary is a perfect blend of conservation efforts, natural beauty, and controlled tourism, offering visitors an immersive experience in the wild heart of Tripura. It’s a crucial ecological landmark for India's North-East.
