Ideal Visit Time: Early Morning (7:00 AM to 11:00 AM) is the best time to visit. The weather is cool, and you can explore the open, exposed mound before the strong afternoon sun hits. The light is also excellent for photography.
Avoid After Dark: Due to its industrial nature and relatively isolated location (the mound itself), it is advisable to avoid visiting the fort and riverbank areas after sunset (after 6:00 PM). The surrounding bazaar is active well into the evening.
The best season is the cooler, drier Winter:Special Events:

These events involve night-long Qawwali sessions, massive community feasts (Langar), and religious gatherings, drawing huge, diverse crowds and showcasing the best of Indo-Islamic spiritual culture.
Local Religious Festivals: The Durga Mandir celebrates major Hindu festivals like Navratri with great fervor, involving local fairs and community gatherings, bringing the ancient temple to life.
Archaeological Seminars/Lectures: Occasionally, local universities or the Archaeological Survey of India may host seminars or guided walks at the Jajmau Tila to discuss new findings or its history, which can be an enriching, highly specific event for history buffs:Best Photo Spots:

This deep root in ancient mythology and history sets it apart from other sites in Kanpur.
The Leather Industry Center: It is widely famous as the leather capital of Kanpur and a major hub of India's leather and tannery industry. This industrial fame, while often controversial due to pollution, is the defining modern characteristic of the suburb and a crucial economic driver for the city.
Tombs of Sufi Saints: The presence of the Tombs of Makhdum Shah Ala-ul-Haq and others has made Jajmau an important site for both Islamic and syncretic local pilgrimage, drawing a steady stream of devotees from different communities, cementing its spiritual and cultural fame.
Jajmau Tila as an Excavation Site: Its status as an active or former archaeological excavation site, which yielded artifacts from the Indus Valley Civilisation period and other ancient pottery/objects, makes it famous among historians and archaeologists: -

Dimension (Site Area) The excavation site covers a considerable area, indicating a significant and sustained settlement over millennia. The visible ruins are largely the remnants of the Jajmau Fort (or Tila) from the medieval and pre-medieval periods, characterized by large, worn brick and stone foundations that were once defensive walls and structures.
Indo-Islamic and Hindu Religious Structures: The architecture within the Jajmau area is a diverse mix, including the traditional design of the ancient Durga Temple and the distinct Indo-Islamic style of the tombs of Sufi saints and the nearby Jinnaton ki Masjid, the latter of which is often noted for a dome structure faintly reminiscent of the Taj Mahal. The structures are built from local brick, stone, and mortar, and have a heavy, defensive, and functional aesthetic typical of historical forts, contrasting sharply with the lightweight, modern industrial sheds of the nearby tanneries: -
