Khynriam Falls
General Details: Khynriam Falls is one of the best-kept secrets of the Mairang region. Named after the Khynriam sub-tribe of the Khasis, this waterfall is a delicate, silken cascade that flows over a wide, blackened rock face. Unlike the roaring Dom-Dom Falls, the Khynriam Falls is known for its gra ceful and quiet beauty. The water spreads out like a fan as it descends, creating multiple small streams that trickle into a shallow, pebble-lined stream. This site is a favorite among local artists and poets who come here for inspiration. The surrounding forest is dominated by silver oak and pine trees, which provide a shimmering canopy over the area. The walk to the falls is relatively easy, making it accessible for people of all ages. Along the path, one can find wild berries and exotic wildflowers that bloom in various shades of yellow and purple. The geological formation here is unique, with the rock face showing clear layers of sedimentary history. During the winter months, the water volume decreases to a fine mist, which clings to the surrounding moss and creates a magical, ethereal atmosphere.
