Kullukera Dam

Gumla, Jharkhand, India
Kullukera Dam is a hidden treasure located in the Palkot block of Gumla. It is one of the most picturesque water bodies in the district, surrounded by the dense forests of the Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary. The dam was primarily built for irrigation, but its aesthetic appeal has made it a popular picni c destination. The water is deep blue and reflects the surrounding hills, which are often covered in mist during the monsoon. The area around the dam is rich in flora, with many rare species of trees and orchids. It is a quiet spot, often devoid of large crowds, making it perfect for those who want to spend time in nature's lap. The sound of water lapping against the stone walls and the chirping of forest birds create a serene symphony. For the locals, it is a vital resource for farming, but for the traveler, it is a gateway to the wilderness. The sunset here is particularly beautiful, with the sun setting behind the distant peaks, casting long shadows over the water. The surrounding trails are perfect for short nature walks where one can see the vibrant rural life of the Kullukera village.
