Korambe Hill

Gumla, Jharkhand, India
Korambe Hill is a site of immense historical and religious significance in the Gumla district. Often referred to as the 'Haldighati of Chotanagpur', it was the site of a fierce battle between the Nagvanshi kings and the Raksel kings of Palamu. Beyond its history, the hill is home to a beautiful tem ple dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Kali. The ascent to the hilltop involves a climb that offers increasingly panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The air at the top is noticeably fresher, and the temple complex provides a sense of profound peace. The hill is part of the ancient tribal heartland, and many local myths are associated with the boulders and caves found here. During festivals, the hill transforms into a vibrant pilgrimage site, with thousands of devotees making the trek. The geological structure of the hill is fascinating, with large balancing rocks that have survived centuries of weathering. It is a place where history, spirituality, and nature converge seamlessly. For history buffs, the remains of old fortifications and stone markers tell a silent tale of valor and sacrifice.
