Kutku Dam Site

Latehar, Jharkhand, India
Details: The Kutku Dam site is a fascinating mix of engineering ambition and wilderness. Construction began decades ago on the North Koel River but was halted to protect the core habitat of the Palamu Tiger Reserve. Today, the massive concrete structure stands as a silent monument amidst the dense j ungle. The reservoir area offers a vast expanse of water surrounded by rolling hills and thick forests. It is one of the most remote and pristine parts of the district, offering true solitude. The site is a haven for crocodiles and various species of water birds. The road to Kutku passes through some of the most beautiful forest canopies in Jharkhand. It is a place where nature has successfully reclaimed man-made structures. Visitors are often struck by the scale of the dam and the overwhelming beauty of the surrounding mountains.
