While most visitors flock to the grand Sindhudurg Fort, few are aware of its smaller, yet historically significant, neighbor Padmagad Fort. Located on a separate islet just a short distance from Sindhudurg, Padmagad served as a crucial subsidiary fortification to the main fort. It was primarily u sed as a shipyard for the Maratha navy, where ships were built and repaired, and also as a storage facility for military supplies.
